All adhesive tapes age and change their properties. These are consumption goods, which should also be taken into account when planning a specific amount to order on consignment.

Storage should not, in principle, endanger the tack of an adhesive tape, but it may happen that in case of storage longer than one year, some adhesives will partially destroy the surface print of an adhesive tape with their effect on the colour. In the course of the first six months of optimal storage, no changes should occur. If no fundamental changes occur even after 12 months, the tape is very resistant against aging. Acrylate adhesive resists aging the best, while hot melt or natural rubber age more quickly and possibly change colours
